The Swirly Whirly Wonder Origin Story

One afternoon while packing orders at The Print Porch, I caught my son wrapping twine around his fingers, creating these perfect little spirals

Just coiling and uncoiling, totally mesmerized by the texture and the way the rope caught the light. Watching him fidget with it, I realized how satisfying that simple motion was, how the spiral pattern was just beautiful in its own right. That's when it hit me: what if we could capture that feeling in a 3D-printed piece? Something that looked like someone had meticulously hand-wound rope around a vessel, but with the precision and consistency that only our printer could deliver. I went on the hunt for a design that same day, looking through files over and over until it felt like exactly what I'd seen in that moment.

Whether it holds flowers, pens, loose change, or whatever life throws at it, the Swirly Whirly Wonder carries a little bit of that magic I saw in my son's hands. Sometimes the best ideas come from the simplest moments.
